    Keeping displaced students in school

SEMDO was founded to meet the critical education needs of young people and respond to humanitarian situations. We supported 230 students living in IDP camps to continue their education, and ran peace-building training for a generation of young leaders. All of this was funded from SEMDO’s own resources.

    COVID-19 community mobilization

With the onset of the pandemic, we dedicated the year to community mobilization to prevent the spread of the virus.

  3. 2021

    Drought response

As severe drought hit Somalia, we acted quickly, providing water trucking to several IDP camps so the most vulnerable communities had clean water at a critical time.

    Training health workers

We trained health students and workers in Baidoa, strengthening the health system and preparing qualified professionals to serve the community.

    Ramadan food distribution

During Ramadan we distributed food to IDP families in Baidoa. The distribution offered not only nourishment but solidarity and care at a time of spiritual significance, and helped build trust with the communities we serve.
